Children of Charity
Giving Back to Our Community
The importance of giving is built into the structure of Crescent’s curriculum through the Children of Charity program. By donating to the school, you are helping Crescent students also learn the importance of giving. In effect, your gift gets paid forward many times over.
Children of Charity is a service learning program that helps students understand the importance of giving back to others as an integral part of faith. The program emphasizes the act of charity through “doing” rather than through just collecting money. This illustrates to students the many ways they can make a difference in the world--to increase their sense of social responsibility. In addition to the importance of giving, this program teaches students many skills like collective decision making (shura), prioritization, cooperation, leadership, and project planning and execution.
Crescent Academy International provided relief to families in drought-plagued Somalia by raising $28,000 for the construction of eight new water wells.
