Dean of Academics Joins Crescent

Nahla Attar, an experienced educator and former principal, has joined Crescent Academy International as dean of academics. 

In this new role, Sr. Nahla oversees all aspects of academics, including curriculum development and review, student academic support, professional development, accreditation compliance, budget management and other areas. She also serves as International Baccalaureate coordinator.

Collaborating with the executive director, principal and other staff members, Sr. Nahla is focused on further enhancing Crescent’s academic programs and ensuring success for every Crescent student. 

“My goal is to work closely with both teachers and students to ensure that we exceed our academic milestone expectations,” she said. “By focusing on each student’s unique strengths and needs, we aim to help them reach their full potential and transfer their knowledge effectively.”

With more than 20 years of educational experience, Sr. Nahla joins Crescent from Central Academy of Ann Arbor, where she was principal for grades K-5, after serving as elementary administrator, students dean and assessments coordinator. Since beginning her educational journey as a preschool aide at CAI, she has taught second grade at an Islamic school and third grade at a charter school in Ann Arbor, in addition to several volunteer roles.  

She has a master of arts degree with elementary teaching certification from the University of Michigan, and a post-master’s K-12 school administrator certificate. She also earned a bachelor of applied physics degree from the University of Technology in Baghdad, Iraq.
