Grades K-8 Participate In Arabic Spelling Bee

Crescent Academy International students in grades K-8 recently participated in the school’s first optional Arabic Spelling Bee.

The event engaged students in memorizing the Most Beautiful Names of Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. The Most Beautiful Names of Allah is the main part of the schoolwide daily morning and afternoon Halaqah, Alhamdullilah.

Students learned the names of Allah as well as the importance of using these characteristics in daily life. Participants in each grade were given from 11 to 14 names to memorize and recite.Twenty students reached first place with no spelling mistakes, Masha’Allah. The student spellers were recognized at a ceremony at the recent Crescent Caravan.

The main purpose of the spelling bee was to improve the students’ functional skill in the Arabic language and gain a deeper understanding of its cultural significance.

“We would love for our students to not only memorize the Most Beautiful Names of Allah by heart but we want them to apply them in their daily lives, InshaAllah,” said Dean of Academics Nahla Attar.
